Appointments

You can make an appointment in the following ways:

If you wish to see a specific doctor, inform the receptionist, although this could entail a longer wait.

Routine Appointments

These appointments are generally for patients that have long term medical conditions, which require regular monitoring from a Doctor. The aim is that these appointments can be booked up to five weeks in advance and that patients are able to book with their GP of choice. Some of these appointments are available to book online.

Medication Review Appointments

If you are notified by the Surgery that your medication review is due, please mention this to the Receptionist when booking your appointment, who will endeavour wherever possible to book the appointment with your usual GP within six weeks of your notification.

Release in a Week Appointments

These appointments are released on a daily basis for the following 7 days. These appointments ensure patients can receive prompt care for issues that cannot wait for a routine appointment but are not so urgent that they require a same day appointment. A proportion of these appointments are available to book online. The Surgery understands that not all of our patients will have access to the online booking facility; therefore if you are having difficulty please call a Receptionist who will assist you.

These appointments are also used by the GPs for follow – up appointments. It is therefore a possibility that not all the GPs will have appointments available to book.

Same Day Appointments

These appointments are released twice daily, at 8.30 and 13.30. The appointments are designed to offer patients same day care for issues that cannot wait for either a release in a week appointment or a routine appointment. The Receptionist will ask you about the symptoms you are experiencing to enable them to book you in with the most appropriate clinician; this might not be a Doctor because it may be possible that the Minor Illness or Practice Nurse will be able to assist you.  The same day appointments are shared out amongst all the clinicians on the day and therefore it is not always possible to accommodate choice of GP.

Telephone Consultation Appointments

These are offered on a limited basis because face to face consultations are preferable to both clinicians and patients. If your issue is not urgent and you feel that you do not require any form of physical examination it may be possible to request a telephone consultation. Please ask the Receptionist, they are trained to assess the possibility of these requests.
